When it comes to lodgings, San Ignacio seems to be mostly split down the line: below average and above average. Since we were only staying for two nights, we chose the former.

The Garden House is no luxury lodge by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s clean and the kitchen is stocked with all necessary utensils. The owners are hands off but friendly, and they live in a house on the same property so they’re easily accessible if you need their help.

Located in the residential hills, they may be hard to find on the map. The property owner is also a practicing OB/GYN, so if you’re not sure if you’ve found the right location, just look for this sign and you’re home:

The cabin is just one big room with three individual twin beds and a kitchen. The bathroom is very small but serviceable, and there is hot water, but you may have to turn on the switch above the shower. Not much room to change in the bathroom, so you’ll want to be pretty comfortable with your fellow travelers.

It’s bare-bones, but if you’re on a budget and are okay with being about a mile from the central part of town, you can’t beat the price.
